Living on such a small Island within a niche way of living provides barriers for exposure to certain geographical topics. This is why it is important to teach students at Les Voies about the wider world and the connections that exist between our way of living, and those around the world.
Engaging with Geography provides a breadth of knowledge from human geography features including a variety of different cultures around the globe, world economics and relationships between communities and their impact on the Earth.
During KS3, students will learn about topics such as:
-
Weather and climate
-
Map reading skills
-
Natural hazards - e.g. hurricanes and earthquakes
-
Population and migration
Geography is not currently offered at KS4 level. However, if a student has a keen interest in broadening their education in this subject, they will be offered 2 pathways for qualification to ensure success, no matter their starting point.
Pathway A: Year 10 & 11 - Cambridge iGCSE Geography
Pathway B: BTEC Level 1 Introductory in Land Based Studies
